Map of Flights

This work, Map of Flights, began with a collective feeling pervaded in the people of my country that sees its hopes truncated in the middle of various restrictive measures of the Government and ideological and movements of protests that deal to win the political future of Venezuelans. This work, which transmits this instinct of flight described on a horizontal aluminum support by way of a large map and with wings of bright feathers in different positions to take on the Act of flight, based on the same concept of wanting to absorb in the escape, as it happens in my work absorption. However most of the wings are severely clogged, interrupted and covered by clusters of dreslos of wool, dog hair, human hair and felts, indicating the feelings that strike every day between Venezuelans (submission, irrationality and humanity). All these elements determine their meaning beside words and slogans of the common vocabulary, articulating in this way the ideas and feelings about this political problem, because it will be present the common thinking of Venezuelans, in flight, escape, or turn our backs on everything, fly is far as clinic of a collective desire.

Subjectus in the well of memory: concentration and distraction

The work is titled Subjectus in memory well: concentration and distraction and we see just drawing where the tones of light and shadow are being created at this stage of the process. The theme of this work is the duality of the Subjectus. Its double character makes it to have a dual approach to be or not to be (e.g. concentrate or relax), like that on the correct understanding of the Subjectus, this not is judged but the Subjectus is conditioned to the effects that this can have to the memory. The reason to not judge the Subjectus by that duality in being is because the Subjectus possesses the quality of innocence. In works such as this, where undertakes a figurative art, part of the process of drawing with the shine of the metal is to have the acuity to know and make the metal to reflect the light in certain areas and other opaque to give effect to the chiaroscuro. The way in which makes it and the technique, are fundamental to create different shades of light that we want to give to our drawing. The end result was used for industrial paint on a sheet of aluminum with wear by mechanical abrasion; its dimensions are: 76 X 122 cm, year: 2013; you don't have frame and is signed on the back.

Absorption

In this work entitled "Absorption", William still incorporating organic elements such as: plush textiles relating to the mode of waste presence human; the hair of the artist as his own presence at work and the hairs of your dog Chow Chow, and it aims to describe the condition of the animal State of being. All these elements gather them inspired in pulsars in light of the universe through the brightness of aluminium metal in continuous circular motion absorbent, similar to the way in which probably suggested to be galaxies, paraphrase of this exotic cosmos of my own existential State.

This page describes recent work in aluminum of the artist William Marquina. At the conceptual level, in 2006 he set out to investigate other unconventional means in drawing and painting. Did you notice that the light always is had been considered a natural element more in the service of the artist; in art, few artists were light as its protagonist, medium and raw material in his works, with the exception of Dan Flavin and others very few never approached to consider the brightness as a visual element, as the work of art itself. In 2007 he created project "Brillo" experimenting with direct drawings by abrasive wear and with aluminum foils and mixed media sculptures.

Shine is the light reflected by humans (also living and inanimate) and this has been his theme of reflection in his works from the perspective of the man as subjectus. In 2007 and 2012 it makes three exhibitions with the same theme, highlighting the 2012 exhibition, entitled "Mapping regional de lo land and Trans-terreno", where your project just beginning to mature in works of medium and large formats. At the technical level, its purpose in the use of aluminum metal, is to take advantage of the visual and expressive potential of this metal, using various mounts metallic, materials poor, as well as in the use of various kinds of paintings and especially using mechanical wear on the aluminum friction, thus producing drawings where the movements of the distortion of the space of lines and surfaces in search of light are nothing more than their pure glares.
